Sanremo is a small town with big dreams, hosting every year some of the most iconic events celebrating music, sports, and nature: from the renowned Italian Song Festival, to the cycling race Milano–Sanremo, and the colorful Sanremo in Fiore.
The iconic Sanremo Festival takes place every February and is the city’s most relevant event in terms of media, social, and economic impact.
The streets of the city fill with artists, producers, professionals, journalists, and fans, drawing thousands of visitors each year. For a week, Sanremo is swept up in a unique magic, transforming into a lively village where the song contest is not the only attraction: it's also time for temporary stores, pop-up shows, after-parties, and fan signings that bring the city to life, turning it into a true open-air music hub.
The Milano–Sanremo, also known as La Classicissima, is one of the most prestigious cycling races in the world. First held in 1907, it has become an unmissable event for cycling enthusiasts. The route links Lombardy and Liguria, passing through the Turchino Pass, the Cipressa, and the Poggio, before reaching its spectacular finish line on Via Roma, in the heart of Sanremo.
The Rallye Sanremo is a historic rally competition for vintage cars, first held in 1928. It usually takes place in October along the winding gravel roads of the Ligurian hinterland. For about thirty years, it was an unmissable stage of the World Rally Championship (WRC), hosting some of the greatest champions in the sport, before becoming in 2003 a key round of the Italian Absolute Rally Championship (CIAR).
The Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix is an iconic event for motorsport enthusiasts. Since 1929, it has taken place every year between May and June on the streets of Monte Carlo, transformed into a 3.337 km urban circuit.
The breathtaking corners of the track make this Grand Prix a unique and adrenaline-filled race, followed by millions of TV viewers and around 100,000 spectators in the city, hosted among luxury hotels and yachts moored in the harbor. It is a major media event, whose visibility also benefits Sanremo, located just about an hour away.
Sanremo in Fiore, also known as "Corso Fiorito", embodies the true spirit of the City of Flowers. Every March, the Flower Floats parade through the city center, turning Sanremo into a one-of-a-kind floral spectacle. The city’s economy and cultural identity have always been deeply connected to floriculture, a tradition rooted in the 19th century. Together with the Festival dei Fiori, the Mercato dei Fiori, and the "Bouquet Festival", Sanremo in Fiore remains today one of the driving forces of the local economy, alongside the renowned Song Festival.
